Booking
If you are booking online, we aim to respond within 24 hours. Payment is required 4 weeks prior to your stay or your booking will be released in order to allow other customers to book.
If your booking is within the 4 weeks of your intended stay, payment is required as soon as possible to secure your booking, please note that until payment is made – bookings are not secured.
Cancellations
We cannot offer refunds for bookings cancelled 7 days or less before your arrival date. If you wish to cancel more than 7 days from your arrival date, and you have paid, we are happy to refund you the full amount minus a 20% admin charge of the total booking.
Refunds are offered at the discretion of Portland Bunkhouse in all cases and we regret that we cannot offer refunds for members of your group that do not turn up.
Check in/ check out
Check in is from 1600hrs daily, please do not arrive earlier unless by prior agreement.
Checks out is by 1100hrs, please make sure the front door is closed and the key is put back in the key safe upon your departure.
Bunkhouse rules
You must not bring anyone outside of your booking into the Bunkhouse at any time to use the facilities. The Bunkhouse is for paying guests only.
For the comfort of other guests, we ask guests to make sure there is no noise after 2300hrs.
The Bunkhouse has communal spaces that must be kept clean and tidy, this includes the kitchen area. Please wash up after using the kitchen facilities, this includes clearing the draining board and putting your used items away for others to use.
There is plenty of parking in the bunkhouse carpark, we will take individual number plates of guests on the day of arrival to ensure that only Portland Bunkhouse and Coastguard View guests are using the carpark.
Please do not park on any area of gras as there are drainage covers in the grass areas that are only capable of holding pedestrian weight – not the weight of vehicles.
Damage
If you damage The Portland Bunkhouse and / or its contents in anyway, you will be responsible for the cost of repair/ replacement.
If you misplace or lose your keys a £25 fee for replacement will be charged.
Diving / Caving / Nighttime sports Guests
There is to be no charging of any equipment that use lithium batteries for example torches, cycles or scooters within the Bunkhouse, (Mobile phones with correct chargers are an exception to this rule). If your sport involves the use of a lithium powered torch or similar please make your own arrangements for this. Failure to comply with this rule could result in you being asked to leave the Bunkhouse and the end of your stay.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with your stay for any reason, please make us aware as soon as possible and we will seek to resolve your problem or issue, we want you to enjoy your stay and if there are any issues we then have the opportunity to resolve them quickly for you.
Portland Bunkhouse reserve the right to ask any guests to leave at any time without the offer of a refund.
Emergency evacuation Plan
You as the person making this booking on behalf of others within your group are responsible to ensure that your group are aware of this fire plan and where to find the fire escape routes and exits. You must make your party aware that in the event of an emergency and / or an evacuation of the Portland Bunkhouse is required, it is everyone’s responsibility to:
Raise the alarm upon discovering a fire by pressing a fire alarm call button that can be located at every exit to the building that will sound an audible alarm and a flashing light in sleeping areas
Shout “FIRE” to confirm that there is a fire and not a false alarm
To call the emergency services
Leaving the building as soon as possible.
All guests must exit the building as soon as possible closing doors behind them to reduce the risk of fire spreading, doors must never be locked in the event of a fire being discovered.
Guests exiting the Bunkhouse should muster outside the main gates and call 999 to request the fire service. The address of the Portland Bunkhouse is Higher Light Lane, Portland Bill, Portland Dorset, DT5 2JT.
If you notice any damage to any fire safety equipment, please report this immediately to the Portland Bunkhouse owners.
Fire alarm tests are conducted weekly, if you are within the Portland Bunkhouse when a test is being conducted on the equipment, you will be notified by the owners prior to this test and do not need to vacate the building, you will be informed when the testing is completed. If you are not informed of a test, treat the alarm as an emergency to vacate.
